Beyond the Plate Regional recipes from around the world
A world of regional recipes

Beyond the dish on the menu.

Every country has a handful of famous dishes and hundreds more that stay in local kitchens, passed on by word of mouth. Beyond the Plate is a small, open place to collect them by continent, country and region, one recipe and one story at a time.

    How Beyond the Plate grows

A site only works once people are filling it. So the community comes first, and the platform follows when cooks ask for it.

    1. Cook and write

The first recipes and stories are published here, written from the kitchen, with ingredient names in the language of the dish.

    2. Open the table

Home cooks, mostly from the diaspora, add dishes from their own families and regions. Anyone can share one.

    3. Build the platform

Profiles, search and a feed arrive once contributors are already posting and want a better place to do it.

    One card per dish

Everyone is welcome to contribute. Fill in the form with your own words and add a photo if you have one. If you like to draft first, copy the card below and paste it in.

Write the dish name in its own script if you can. Say who taught you, and say what you changed. Those details are what make a recipe worth reading.
